McNally
In an incredibly sad and ironic twist of events, local bookseller McNally-Robinson has filed for bankruptcy protection. This occurred just a week after hosting an incredibly successful signing with Neil Gaiman. The Polo Park store, the one that won Neil's contest (tied along with another bookstore in Georgia) will close suddenly this coming Sunday, along with their Toronto outlet.
There will be much more fallout on this subject and more that can be written, but this belies the general weak state of the bookstore industry and how that state might compare and contrast with that of comics specialty retailers in general. Your comments are invited, but bear in mind that we'd like to have an intelligent discussion and will be vigilant in that regard. Also note that time is very limited because we are still reworking the e-commerce, so posts may be delayed.....sometimes a lot. Anyway, it's a very sad day because of this development. When one bookseller suffers we all lose a little....
